In-Depth Review
The LIFX Beam is a modular light panel system designed to bring dynamic, colorful lighting directly onto your walls without the need for a separate hub or bridge, connecting straight to your home WiFi network. Each kit includes a mix of straight and corner pieces that click together magnetically, allowing you to build anything from a simple horizontal line to elaborate geometric patterns, corners, and multi-directional designs that stretch across a room. With access to 16 million colors and adjustable white tones ranging from warm to cool daylight hues, the Beam transforms plain walls into vibrant focal points that shift and adapt to match any mood, activity, or occasion. Beyond its striking visual presence, the LIFX Beam is built for smart home integration, working seamlessly with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, and the LIFX mobile app, giving users full control over brightness, color, and effects from their smartphone or through simple voice commands. The app unlocks a library of preset scenes and dynamic effects, including options that sync lighting with music, movies, or gaming sessions, making the Beam especially popular among content creators, gamers, and anyone looking to add an immersive ambient layer to their entertainment setup. Scheduling features also let users automate sunrise and sunset transitions, create relaxing evening routines, or set energizing morning sequences without lifting a finger. Installation is tool-light and expansion-friendly, with each Beam segment mounting via included adhesive strips and mounting brackets, so panels can be arranged, rearranged, or extended over time as your creative vision or living space evolves. Because the system is modular by design, additional Expansion Kits can be purchased separately to grow an existing layout, making it easy to scale from a small accent piece behind a TV to a full feature wall spanning an entire room. Durable, energy-efficient LED components ensure long-term reliability, while the combination of customizable shapes, rich color rendering, and smart connectivity positions the LIFX Beam as a standout choice for anyone seeking architectural, statement-making ambient lighting for bedrooms, living rooms, offices, or streaming studios.
What Buyers Say
Set these up behind my monitor and the color sync with games is incredible. Assembly was simple, just snap and go. Wish the starter kit included more pieces but overall very happy.
The light quality and color accuracy are fantastic, and no hub needed is a huge plus. Just be prepared to spend more if you want a bigger design since extra pieces aren't cheap.
Works perfectly with my Google Home setup. Occasionally I get a brief disconnect but a quick app refresh fixes it. Overall a beautiful addition to my living room.
The panels themselves look amazing and the colors are vivid, but the app can lag when creating custom scenes. Hardware is five stars, software experience is a three.
